R. 'Golden Globes' Web SpecialsA new, but not registered rhododendron hybrid by Singing Tree Gardens Nursery. When I was looking to create a larger growing strong yellow flowering hybrid, I was using R. 'Nancy Evans' as a seed parent due to its rich butter yellow colored flowers. Then, someone showed me a truss of his hybrid R. campylocarpum x R. macabeanum, which was even more yellow. Plus the foliage was spectacular due to the R. macabeanum big leaf rhododendron parent. I

We are lucky to get our hands on a few of these to make available to our dwarf and miniature conifer collectors

making it stand out in the landscape

but with these parents we would guess it will be hardy to zone 7

it is an evergreen plant that typically only gets to be 2" tall but spreads to 18-24 inches

There are white streaks and red spotting in each flower to add interest
